Originally released in 1994, the Dragonfly was one of Spyderco’s original lightweight knives and helped to introduce the use of injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handles.

Manufactured by Böhler-Uddeholm, K390 MICROCLEAN® is a state-of-the-art cold work tool steel produced by the particle metallurgy process. Its advanced alloy mix was specifically developed to provide the extreme wear resistance and high compressive strength needed in industrial cutting, blanking, and punching operations. Despite its toughness, its exceptionally fine, homogeneous microstructure also makes it readily machinable and easy to heat treat.
Collectively, these qualities make K390 an outstanding blade material for true steel connoisseurs.
I carry a minimum of 3 knives every day. Ever since acquiring this little DFly it has claimed a place in my daily carry, and it gets more use than any other knife for all the small jobs. I've stropped it a couple times, but sharpening seems like it will not be necessary more than a couple times per year. Great price and fast shipping from National.
Have long like this pattern and after researching K390 and seeing Big Brown Bear's torture tests of this steel on Youtube, I decided to try it in the Dragonfly 2. Whoever sharpened mine at Seki City outdid their peers creating a perfect edge. And the shopping and delivery experience at National Knives is outstanding.
