Spyerco Phil Wilson Sprig
Phil Wilson is one of the few custom knife makers that I am aware of who designs knives for sportsmen and sportswomen. His knives are designed to cut and process game and fish. Distal tapers, thin cutting edges, steel selection, blade hardness, blade geometry and handle comfort are all selected with a purpose in mind. His blades are not pry bars or some fantasy defensive or game of thrones blade. These blades are for people who have need for a knife that actually cuts and not just a letter opener or card board cutter. Spyderco's execution of Phil Wilson's bird and trout knife is excellent. Great choice of steel, fit and finish are fantastic and it is the next best thing to an actual custom Phil Wilson knife. Unfortunately, this knife like the Southfork before (another Spyderco Phil Wilson knife) has been discontinued by Spyderco. If you are interested in a purpose built knife for game and fish, snap one up quick. When this goes away there isn't an equivalent production knife available from any of the quality mass market knife makers.
