A Production Knife That Feels Like It's Custom
I ordered the Todd Begg Knives Steelcraft Series Field Marshall FM232 Folding Knife, 2-Tone 4" Plain Edge CPM-S35VN Blade, Blue, Blue, & Silver Handle. This Todd Begg knife, just like any other, does not leave the shop unless it's perfect. And it is perfect! Todd Begg Knives partnered with David Deng of REATE Knives in China. Todd has stated that REATE just happens to be in China, and that this partnership is based on quality ... not location. That being said, REATE Knives has CNC machines that are some of the best in the world. Once you see and touch the machined grips on each of the scales, you will immediately understand. Some of the finest, tightest, and flawless grip stripes are smaller than the fault tolerances for lesser brands of knives. It is a marvel to behold how anything can be machined so fine, exact, and flawless. This knife is made from the very best components, which is no big surprise for fans and collectors of Todd Begg Knives. CPM-S35VN stainless steel blade, 14Al4V Titanium, Ceramic IKBS (Ikima Korth Bearing System) pivot, Todd Begg's trademark Ceramic ball detent and 3D machined pocket clip. Out of the box, this knife feels like it is already broken in for you. The opening action feels as smooth as glass. The closing action needed only 30 or so cycles before it started closing mostly by gravity alone. This knife feels and looks like a mid-tech or semi-custom knife. It is an incredible deal, and a lot of Bang for the Buck! I now own 3 Steelcraft® Series Field Marshall knives. I highly recommend these knives without hesitation or reservation.
